  • DIRECTOR: Ray Milland
  • ACTORS: Ray Milland, Jean Hagen, Frankie Avalon, Mary Mitchel, Joan Freeman, Richard Bakalyan, Rex Holman, Neil Nephew, Richard Garland
  • PLOT: A family desperately tries to survive out in the country after Los Angeles is destroyed by a nuclear attack.
  • EVALUATION: A wonderfully dark look at humanity in crisis that neither praises nor condemns the violent actions of the family patriarch (Milland).
  • WRITING: Nothing special but surprisingly reminiscent of the monstrous teenager films of the 1950s.
  • FILMING: The black and white is essential in conveying the bleakness of postwar California, and the best shots are those of highways overflowing with desperate drivers.
  • BEST PART: In the ultimate "angry dad on a road trip" move, Ray Milland starts a gasoline fire on a highway to reduce traffic.
  • TRIVIA: Released as a double feature with Tales of Terror..
  • STINGER: Ray Milland yells "NO!" at either his wife or daughter.
