- DIRECTOR:
William Witney
- ACTORS:
Vincent Price, Charles Bronson, Henry Hull, Mary Webster, David Frankham, Richard Harrison, Vito Scotti, Wally Campo
- PLOT:
A team of explorers stumbles upon a violent pacifist who attacks military forces from his powerful airship.
- EVALUATION:
A not-so-great adaptation that miscasts Charles Bronson and has the rest of its cast chew the scenery in a manner that makes Vincent Price seem restrained.
- WRITING:
Jules Verne's source material and a screenplay by Richard Matheson aren't quite enough to keep the ship afloat.
- FILMING:
The set design is actually really impressive, with background objects moving as though on a real airship, but other background shots have obviously been borrowed from other films.
- BEST PART:
The incredibly odd intro featuring lots of footage of malfunctioning aircraft.
- TRIVIA:
The authorized biography of Gene Roddenberry claims that he was influenced by this film's use of a "multiethnic crew traveling the world righting wrongs and doing good."
- STINGER:
David Frankham considers braining Charles Bronson.
